OBITUARY FOR JERRY L. GETZ GETZ, Jerry L., age 53, of Carlisle, Ohio, passed peacefully into his eternal home surrounded by his family on Friday, July 25, 2014 at his residence. He was born July 3, 1961 in LaGrange, Indiana and moved to Ohio in 1967. He graduated from Middletown High School Class of 1980. Jerry served in the U.S. Air Force for two years and was stationed in Okinawa, Japan. He was an excellent auto mechanic and body technician, and was employed as a Diesel Mechanic at RMB Enterprises Trucking Company and then for Allied Transportation. His past time was spent working on cars and spending time with his nieces and nephews. The family extends their special thanks and appreciation to his Vitas Hospice nurses, Cheryl, April and Susan for their professional and loving care of Jerry during his illness. Preceding him in death were his parents, Roscoe H. and Martha Aileen (Gilbert) Getz; and one brother, John H. Getz. He is survived by his wife of 12 years, Janie Getz; special niece whom he was raising, Jessica Carr; brother, Jim Getz and twin brother, Larry Getz, wife Ronica; two sisters, Nadine Begley, husband Gary, and Robin E. Conley; several nieces and nephews; his dog, ”Rocky”; two sisters-in-law, Carla Wilson, husband Kevin, and Lori Baker; father-in-law, Bill Sprulock and Carol Ann Woods; many special friends including Larry “Turtle” Turner and Johnny and Lisa Stepp. Visitation will be Tuesday, July 29, 2014 from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Herr-Riggs Funeral Home, 210 S. Main St., Middletown. Services will be Wednesday, July 30, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at the Poasttown First Church of God, 6376 Middletown-Germantown Road, (Madison Township), Middletown, with Pastor Kenny Brewer officiating. Interment will be at Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Madison Township with Military Services by Middletown Combined Honor Guard. Since Jerry had such a love and appreciation for cars, both old and new, friends and family are encouraged to drive their classic cars to his visitation and services.
