OBITUARY FOR JUNE L. ROTHWELL ROTHWELL, June Louise, age 89, lifelong resident of Middletown, Ohio, passed away Thursday, May 5, 2016 at Mt. Pleasant Retirement Village where she had resided for ten months. June was born August 20, 1926 in Gratis, Ohio, and graduated from Middletown High School, Class of ’44. She was employed at Merit Cleaners for 20 years, and at Union Sanitary Cleaners for 20 years. June also served as a crossing guard for Middletown School District. She enjoyed many varied interests and hobbies, including crochet, crossword and jigsaw puzzles, playing games with her family, and collecting porcelain dolls and crystal figurines. She loved to babysit, and enjoyed studying her family genealogy. June, of course, loved all of her six children, but with the birth of her youngest, Beth Ann, in 1961, June was blessed with a 55-year-long very special relationship that she cherished more than anything else. June and Beth were virtually inseparable throughout Beth’s entire life, with June becoming Beth’s lead cheerleader at her numerous Special Olympics swimming, bowling, and choir events. They also shared many travels, with their vacations to Florida, California, and Hawaii, among others. June and Beth were best friends as well as mutual caregivers, as their roles reversed when at some point, daughter became mother, and Beth lovingly tended to June’s needs. June had a few more special relationships when she “adopted” as her own, a couple of girls whom she babysat. Kaitlin Wright Lovett and Christy Paraskos were very dear to June, as she maintained relationships and never stopped loving them as though they were her own daughters or granddaughters, decades after they left her care. Preceding June in death were her parents, Roy Sr. and Berdenia James Tibbs; her husband of 66 years, Joseph Earl Rothwell in 2013; one son, Joseph Michael (Judy) Rothwell; five brothers, Roy Jr., Eugene, James Richard, Ronald and David; and four sisters, Wanda, Delores, Judith, and Joyce. She is survived by five children, Thomas Alan (Sharon) Rothwell, James William (Shirley) Rothwell, Robyn Lynn James, Danny Ray Rothwell, and Elizabeth Ann Rothwell; nine grandchildren, Jill (Bobby), Joe (Traci), Kelly (Jason), Kim (Darren), Jen (David), Lindsey (Jeremy), Tommy Casey (Sarah), Tyler and Jeffrey; 11 great grandchildren, Brooklyn, Mason, Gabriella, Oliver, Micah, Rylee, Hanna, Jacob, Arilynn, Lyra, and Lilyth; two sisters, Pauline Johnston and Susan (Dennis) Campbell; and many nieces, nephews and extended family.
