Lois Ann Arnold

Lois Ann Arnold (nee Egleston) age 90 passed away Monday, August 31, 2026 in Middletown, Ohio. Lois was born August 12, 1936 in Middletown, Ohio growing up in Middletown the youngest of 5 sisters. She spent most of her time with her mother cooking, cleaning and learning all about her grandmother a midwife and herbalist in the mountains of Kentucky, and all the best recipes from her mother. She was an active child that loved piano lessons, sports, skating and chasing after her older sisters in the neighborhood. In high school, she was able to play sports and took business education classes. During this time, Lois was introduced to John (Butch) Arnold by her brother-in-law and married in March the following spring. Bearing a son in the next couple of years. She and John created a wonderful family life fishing, camping, picnicking and vacationing all over the country traveling to the California coast during a lay off period from Armco Steel. Lois and John led a family centered around the church and Christian values serving as needed doing whatever needed done. Lois and John were founding members of the Monroe Church of God working in busing ministries and children's missions doing all it took to establish the church even clearing the land the church sits on today. Lois is preceded in death by her parents George Ellison Egelston and Suzanne (Johnson) Egelston; siblings Ruby Pearl Linkous (Donald), Betty Jean Olsen (Blaine), Edith Mae Maines (Maurice), Phyllis Jean Scheared (Orville), nephews and nieces Johnny Linkous, Martin Maines (Cathy) and Nicole Arnold (Scott's wife). She is survived by son John David Arnold (Brenda M. Fischer Arnold); grandchildren John Ian Arnold (April Lynn Arnold), Carey Celeste (Arnold) Hindman (Matthew Vincent Hindman) and Elizabeth Ann Arnold (Stephen Eugene Barton; great-grandchildren Cash Alan Croy, Janet Ann-Celeste Barton, Brenia Leeanne Arnold and Christine Rose; nephews and nieces Jim Linkous, Myron Maines (Greta), Bob Cole (Pam), Gary Olsen (Barbara Cricket) Douglas Cole, Marcella Hutchins, Meredith Maines (Elisa), Mark Maines (Renee), Brian Arnold (Kathy), Scott Arnold and Todd Arnold (Susan) and many other great nieces, nephews, cousins and church family, friends and countless grown children from her Sunday School Classes. The family will receive friends Saturday, September 12, 2026 from 11am until time of service at 1:00pm all at the Monroe First Church of God located at 100 Easton Manor Drive, Monroe, Ohio 45050. Following the services, Lois will be laid to rest next to her loving husband John in Woodside Cemetery, Middletown, Ohio.
