THOMAS LEE KERR

OBITUARY FOR THOMAS LEE KERR KERR, Thomas Lee, age 73, of Monroe, Ohio, passed away Sunday, November 24, 2013 at Franklin Ridge Nursing Home after an extended battle with Alzheimer’s. He was born February 9, 1940 in Clinton, Iowa and moved with his family to Middletown in 1949. He graduated from Middletown High School and from Miami University with a Bachelor’s Degree. He served in the U.S. Army and was stationed in Germany when the Berlin Wall was built. He played high school football and softball on industrial teams, and enjoyed watching Indy and dirt track racing and professional sports. He also was a registered official for high school football and basketball for many years. His favorite vacations were at Skeleton Lake in Ontario. He was active in the George M. Verity Masonic Lodge, and was elected Worshipful Master in 1985. Thomas was employed as a Purchasing Agent at Whirlpool for 20 years. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Middletown. Preceding him in death were his parents, Norman and Martha (Lee) Kerr. He is survived by his wife of 20 years, Connie Windsor Kerr; two sons, Scott Kerr and Todd Kerr; two daughters, Melissa King, husband Adam and Deborah Welsh, husband Bryan; two step sons, Phillip Huff, wife Katherine and Christopher Huff, wife Debbie; 12 grandchildren; 2 great grandchildren; three sisters, Barb Alder, husband Doug, Nancy Thompson, husband Ivan, and Cathy Kerr; one brother, Jerry Kerr, wife Peggy; and numerous nieces and nephews. There will be a Celebration of Life Service on Friday, November 29, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. at the First Presbyterian Church, 2910 Central Ave., Middletown, with Rev. Greg Gibson and Chaplain Doug Alder officiating. A gathering for family and friends will follow the service from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, 644 Linn St., Suite 1026, Cincinnati, Ohio 45203 or to Hospice of Dayton, 324 Wilmington Ave., Dayton, Ohio 45420.
