OBITUARY FOR BRACK H. COLLINS

COLLINS, Brack H., age 77, of Franklin, Ohio, passed away Monday, August 25, 2014 at Hospice of Butler and Warren Counties where he had been a patient for six days. He was born September 6, 1936 in Middletown and lived in this area all his life. He graduated from Middletown High School Class of 1954. He was employed in the Blast Furnace Production at AK Steel for 39 years, retiring in 1994. He stayed active with his AK workers until his passing. He was a member of the V.F.W. Miami Valley Post 3809. Preceding him in death were his parents, Emery and Alma (Petitt) Collins; his wife of 47 years, Jackie Collins in 2002; one brother, Vernon Collins; and one sister, Silvia Collins. He is survived by three children, Vicki (Bob) Burnside, Joni (Harry) McKenzie and Beth (Steve) Riley; one sister, Nona Stone; six grandchildren, Nicholas (Lindsay) Fliehman, Matthew (Jacki) McKenzie, Loren (Brandon) Bernal and Mason, Maggie and Mollie Riley; six great grandchildren, Jadyn, Carter and Toryn Fliehman, Ethan and Emmalee McKenzie and Peyton Bernal. Private services will be held at the convenience of the family at Woodside Chapel with Pastor Lamar Ferrell officiating. Interment will follow at Woodside Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Butler and Warren Counties, 5940 Long Meadow Drive, Franklin, Ohio 45005. Arrangements by Herr-Riggs Funeral Home, 210 S. Main St., Middletown. Brack was one of my best friends that I worked with at AK Steel -we had alot of fun fishing at Lake Erie and I could write a book which would be a "Best Seller"of our adventures!! .Will keep him in my heart always! The family has deepest sympathy!

Brack was one of those "quiet" classmates who kept to himself a-lot. The first time I ran into him after we graduated was after I married, had a family and took out his mailbox with my car while backing out of his neighbors driveway. He surprised me when I saw him and we had a long talk. I can't really say now what happened to the repair of the mailbox but he was very nice about the whole thing.
