SHOCKEY, Garry Rex, age 84, of Middletown, Ohio, passed away Friday, November 3, 2017 at Otterbein Lebanon Retirement Community where he had been a patient for three days. He was born August 22, 1933 in Rosefork, Wolfe County, Kentucky and moved to Ohio in 1955 after serving in the Korean Conflict in the U.S. Army. He was employed at Armco Steel for 30 years, retiring in 1994. He was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie 528. Preceding him in death were his father, Vernon Arnett and mother, Ruby Shockey Pettit; his wife, Pauline Shockey in 2000; one daughter, Connie Shockey; and one brother, Lennox. He is survived by one daughter, Sandy (Arthur) Vest; one step-daughter, Charlotte (Ricky) Chumley; four grandchildren, Brooke (Cory) Hildreth, Tina Finch, David (Kelly) Chumley and Eric (Chrissy) Chumley; twelve great grandchildren; and many extended family and friends. Visitation will Be Tuesday, November 7, 2017 from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the Herr-Riggs Funeral Home, 210 S. Main St., Middletown, followed by services at 1:00 p.m. with Dr. Dan Flory officiating. Interment will be at Woodside Cemetery, Middletown, Ohio, with military honors by the Middletown Combined Honor Guard. Arrangements by Herr-Riggs Funeral Home, 210 S. Main St., Middletown.
