ROBERTS, Cleda, age 87, of Middletown, Ohio passed away Tuesday January 5, 2021 at her residence surrounded by nieces, Loretta (Caudill) Koontz (Husband Rick), Sophia (Jim) Mallott, BJ (Bill) Byrd, Judy (Charles) Butler; nephews, Jackie, (Bridget) Short and George Short; great nephew Richard Scott Koontz; great niece, Heather (Koontz) Raygoza, husband Salvador and her children Oscar, Karmen and Joaquin; special cousin Brac, (Judy) Strong; special friends, Sheila Fuller & Johnny Rhodus, Todd & Marilyn Bunyard, Pam & Tim Reed, Mike & Beth Williams, Lisa (Defrates) Wagner and Becky (Defrates) Koontz. Born March 25, 1933 in Little Ky, she attended the Desi Scott's children home until 13, when the family moved to Big Branch, and finished her education at the local one room schoolhouse. She married Dewey Strong and has resided in Middletown since 1958. She was employed by Pollock Paper (which sold out to St. Regis on Reinartz Blvd.) as a machinist where she retired in 1988 after 25 years of service. She then was self-employed for 30 years cleaning houses. She was on bowling leagues at Sports Bowl and enjoyed golfing at the local golf courses with then husband Estil Roberts. She also was once married to Donald Honschul. She was a member of The Gideon Street Church of God and enjoyed attending Grace Baptist Church on Union Road with Dewey, after reconnecting in their latter years. She is preceded in death by her parents Chester & Alice (Johnson) Short; brothers, William, Andy (Ethel) and Henry (Sarah) Short; sisters Stella Short, Dora (Elisha) Haddix, Cinda (George) Fields, Louise (Martin) Fugate and Mildred (Hobert) Caudill; nieces, Mary Alice Fugate, Alice Hardy, Dora Leif and Wilma Faye Shouse; nephews, Marvin & Elisha Short, Larry & Marty Fugate and Arthur Fields. She is also survived by nephews, Willard (Tina)Short, Bill Short, Wendell Short & Shafter Short, Davis Fields, Harold (Gina) Fugate and Clarence Fugate, nieces, Judy Fields, Christine Lloyd, Gladys Stafford, Kathy Millard, Sarah Grzybek, Ada Shouse and Myrtle Watts and many great nieces, nephews, extended relatives and friends. Graveside service will be at 3 pm following an intimate private ceremony, Tuesday January 12, 2021 at the Butler Memorial Park, in the Garden of the Good Shepherd, Trenton, Ohio, (special thanks to Kim & Corbitt), With Reverend Jim Winters officiating.
